ESS Introduces ICE NARO™ Eyeshield
August 17, 2006

Added to US Army, USMC, and USAF Approved Protective Eyewear Lists

Sun Valley, Idaho, USA

This month, ESS Eyewear introduced the ICE NARO™ and ICE-2 NARO™, new smaller versions of the company’s popular ICE 2.4™ ballistic spectacle series.  The products were designed to meet the needs of troops and first responders who are seeking a smaller size than was offered by the universal fit of the original ICE 2.4™.  The new products are approximately one half inch narrower between the temples, with smaller lenses that look at home on a smaller face, but also offer greater proportional coverage and full compliance with the US military specification MIL-PRF-31013 and ANSI Z87.1+ standards.

In listening to our customers, we identified an unmet need in the market for ballistic spectacles that fit the many people with smaller, narrower faces,” said Brian Ross, ESS VP Sales & Marketing. “The ICE NARO will see to it that they can do their duties in comfort without sacrificing safety.”

There will be two basic varieties of the new product offered: the ICE NARO™, which includes Clear, Smoke Gray and Hi-Def Yellow lenses, and the ICE-2 NARO™ two-lens model with Clear and Smoke Gray lenses.  Both kits come with a protective case, elastic strap, and anti-fog cloth.  All ESS ICE™ and ICE NARO™ spectacles can be fitted with the same prescription lens carriers in ESS’ Rx product line.  These same carriers also fit in either the ESS Profile™ or Advancer™ series goggles.

The US military market’s desire for a smaller-fit ballistic spectacle has been quickly realized; upon introduction, the ICE-2 NARO™ model has been issued a National Stock Number (NSN) (4240-01-537-6143) and added to the Approved Protective Eyewear Lists (APEL) for the US Army, Air Force, and Marine Corps.
